   VET IN SCHOOLS  

Vocational Education and Training (VET) is education and training that gives students skills and knowledge for work. VET operates through a national training system, and is delivered, assessed and certified by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).

The SACE enables students to include a significant amount of VET in their SACE studies. Students can gain recognition for up to 180 SACE credits at Stage 1 and/or Stage 2 for successfully completed VET. These recognition arrangements help students to build coherent pathways in the SACE through VET, and encourage students to complete, or make significant progress towards completing, VET qualifications while completing the SACE. ICAN INITIATIVES

Excellence in Education & Training is a provisional ICAN provider.

ICAN stands for Innovative Community Action Networks and brings together young people, families, schools, community groups, businesses and different levels of government to find solutions to local issues that prevent young people from completing their education. ICANs are a key part of the "Making the connections, School Retention Action Plan, a social inclusion initiative.

ICANs are targeting young people, from year 6 to 19 years of age who are:

a)  enrolled in school but at risk of early leaving;

b)  disengaged and/or not re-engaging to a pathway to employment, further education or community participation, or a combination of these.
